IMPORTANT – Voter registration: as you know we are trying to get as many potential voters as possible to register in advance of next year?s General Election, expected to be called for Thursday 6 May. Simply go to the website http://www.dontleaveyourvoteathome.com and click on Electoral registration form. You?ll need the postcode of your last address in the UK, and your British passport number and place and date of issue. You?ll also need another British expat (not related to you) to countersign your application form.
Alternatively I can download a form and send it to you to fill in and return with your signature and countersignature in place, but you will have to give me the postcode of your last address in the UK, so that I can find the address of the Electoral Registration Officer to whom the form has to be returned.
If you?ve lived abroad for more than 15 years, don?t let that stop you registering. Your application will be refused, but you will have expressed a protest. So the message is: register regardless! And get your British friends and colleagues to do the same.
Wow, this is a great article.
